Sarah Mae | Educator & Education Advocate | Educator Reset

Hi–I’m Sarah Mae. I help educators maintain a healthy work-life balance throughout the school year and teach their students to do the same.

My Story

Are you a passionate educator, juggling the demands of a classroom and a desire for work-life balance? I’ve been there too.

With over two decades in the education sector, including five years as a high school teacher in Vancouver, Canada, I understand the challenges faced by both educators and students.

During my time in the classroom, I experienced the weight of burnout, a struggle that I am sure you can relate to. I’m pretty convinced it was a teacher who coined the term! Yet, what struck me most was how this relentless cycle of burnout is impacting our students.

Educators aren’t just teachers; we’re also role models. Our actions, choices, and well-being set the standard for the next generation. It’s disheartening to see students emulate the burnout culture they witness, striving for perfect grades and prestigious universities without learning the skills for a balanced life. What exactly are we setting them up for success in?

It isn’t our fault. Politics aside, it’s evident that our current educational frameworks neglect to teach the essential skills required for a balanced life. My mission is to bridge this gap by equipping educators and students with the 21st-century skills needed to lead fulfilling lives with less burnout.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Curriculum and Instruction. My extensive teaching experience includes middle school, high school social studies, law 12, career education, and credit recovery. I am a certified Human Potential Coach specializing in Mindful Productivity and have received a Certificate of Teaching Excellence in British Columbia.

I previously worked as the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Digital Media Academy. Currently, I work as a Marketing & Brand Consultant in EdTech and beyond, as well as an Education Advocate.

When I’m not working, I’m hiking, reading, gardening, or snuggling with my longhair chihuahua, Loki-Juan Kenobi.
